Beauty | Madame LA LA Fake Tan*

Being that I reside in Essex, it's no surprise that I love me some fake tan! It's all about #tanningthursday for me. So when I heard about a new brand that even the celebs in LA were going mad about I thought we must be onto a winner here. Let me introduce Madame LA LA, a tanning products inspired by the LA, Malibu Beach lifestyle.

I've been using this tan as my go to each week lately as it doesn't have that awful potato/biscuit smell that some fake tans have. In fact this tanning mousse is made using Coco Water, meaning it has a slight coconut smell to it. I also love that it develops really dark and doesn't all disappear when you wash the residue off the next day.

I will tend to put Madame LA LA tan on before bed time and let it do its magic overnight; they recommend you leave for at least 10 hours to develop to get the best, non streaky tan. And yes it does leave you streak free, however make sure you use a mitt to get even coverage. The tan itself I would say lasts around 4-5 days depending on how active you are.

If you're looking for a new tan to fake the summer glow as the weather here in The UK isn't playing ball, then pop down to Superdrug and pick some up!

Have you tried Madame LA LA? Are you a fake tan addict like me?

*The products in the post were gifted by Madame LA LA, however all views and opinions are my own.

Lifestyle | Life Lately...

You may or may not have noticed that I disappeared a little bit this month; things have been a little crazy to say the least in regards to life in general and just finding the time to blog or even be on social media has been difficult.

First up, I've been settling into my new job which means when I get home from work all I'm about ready to do is eat dinner and watch Love Island (new guilty pleasure show for definite.) But I'm finally feeling that I've got my routine down now meaning things in my internet life can get back on track.

I've also been so busy at weekends enjoying time with my best friend, that time just slips away and next thing I know it's Sunday evening and that Monday morning dread is setting in. It's been so much fun though just hanging out and going on adventures; we had an evening in to celebrate a year since we went on Trek America and we also went to Royal Ascot where we actually won some money on the horses!

Also my Nan unfortunately suffered a stroke at the beginning of April and she's been in hospital since. At the moment she is responding to physio or speech therapy, which is a bit upsetting as she's always been a really active, chatty lady for 88; which means we are now looking at nursing homes for her. So a lot of my evenings and time during the weekend is at the hospital with my mum.

Finally, I've been getting ready for my holiday to the West Coast of America next week. We all know how  much I loved my trip last year, so this year I'm heading back to spend more time in some of my favourite places. San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles! So keep an eye out for some blog posts about my trip and more when I get back.

So that's whats been happening with me lately, I've got some free time this weekend to finally get some blogging done as well as get back to posting on Instagram and Snapchat.

What's been happening with you lately? Anything exciting happening shortly or is it all service as normal?

Lifestyle | 5 Tips To Ace A Job Interview

Job interviews, we've all had them and they can be super nerve-wrecking at times. I've found from my experience in working in recruitment for the last 9 months as well as going to a few interviews myself in the past month I've picked up some tips to ace that interview and get an offer on the table.

  • Research The Company.
Seems obvious right? But get searching and learning on the company's website to see what they are about; if they have any company values jot them down and learn them a little so you know the kind of employee they are looking for. Also take a look at the company's social media channels, you'll be able to put a voice/style to the company overall and understand them a little more. Finally have a little look on Linkedin at the person who will be interviewing you; you'll be able to see their growth within their career as well as what their duties are within the company.

  • Look Up Some Competency Based Questions Online.
Competency based questions tend to be the normal in interviews nowadays and often candidates buckle under pressure when trying to come up with a situation that encompasses the competency asked about. Google some competencies and jot down some answers/scenarios you've found yourself in that reflect the main competency asked about. This should relieve the pressure a little and not make you feel put on spot. And remember always turn a negative into a positive when asked what your weaknesses are.

  • Prepare The Night Before.
Decided on your interview outfit the night before as well as how you'll wear your hair/make up. If you turn up to the interview looking polished chances are they will take you more seriously. This will also stop you stressing out the morning of the interview and help you to remain calm and focused. Also try and get an early night, don't obsess on reading notes about the company etc. put the phone down and aim to get at least 8 hours of sleep. If you feel refreshed you'll be more alert in the interview.

  • Get Yourself Pumped For The Interview.
This is just something I find to be fun and totally get me feeling pumped and confident for the interview. Get some feel good power tunes on, that will lift your spirit up and make you feel like you can conquer the world. I love listening to Fifth Harmony, Worth It; Demi Lovato, Confident and Britney Spears; Work Bitch before a interview or a big meeting. They make me feel empowered and ready to tackle the interview head on.

  • Have Some Questions Prepared For The End of The Interview.
This is so important! Don't ever say "No, you've answered all my questions" when the interviewer asks you if you want to ask anything. I have two main questions I always ask at the end of interviews 1. "What can I do to impress you in the first three months?" and 2. "What is the biggest challenge you think I will have coming into this role?" This makes you come across more interested in the role and ready to tackle whatever obstacles may end up coming your way if you start the job. If you can't think of anything, just ask about what the expected start date would be or how many rounds of interviews there will be? It's little things like this that could just pip you ahead of another candidate.

So those are my tips to ace a job interview, what I would say is just try and remain calm and if you don't understand what the interviewer is asking, ask them to repeat the question. I always try and think of it as a casual chat with a friend to try and make me feel more at ease.

What's your number one thing you like to do before a job interview? How do you prepare for an interview?

Beauty | May Favourites

Time for another dose of beauty monthly favourites to share with you, can't believe that I've actually managed to keep this up in 2016 so far! So let's delve into my May favourites.

Skincare wise I've been changing up my products as my skin is changing so felt I needed a refresh. In the morning's I've been reaching for the Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity 3 in 1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash. I find that this is super refreshing and just removes any make up that hasn't been removed from the night before, I love that it foams as well so I can really see it cleaning my face. I've also been using BRYT Essential Serum before moisturising both day and night and I love the results I've been seeing since introducing this to my skincare routine. There is a blog post going up next week about BRYT skincare, so stay tuned for that!

I've really been into tanning lately and have found myself reaching these two products constantly. The St Mortiz Fast Self Tanning Mousse is quickly becoming my firm favourite for fake tan, I love the scent and find that it doesn't go patchy at all. I usually apply this in the evening and then wash off in the morning and get an even glowing tan. In between tanning I love using the Dove Summer Glow Moisturiser to keep my tan topped up and hydrated. It works a treat and keeps me looking summer fresh!

Make Up favourites this month have been the Collection Speedy Highlighter in Pearl Sheen. This is a great highlighter for everyday use as it's not too shimmery and is super simple to apply. I've used this nearly everyday since purchasing and find that it just adds a simple glow to my cheek bones. I've also been loving the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer for under my eyes, it really brightens up this area and hides any bags.

Recently I've noticed that my skin has become a lot more oily and my make up slips off during the day, so I've been using the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent to set my make up. This really helps keep everything in place and keeps my make up looking fresh. I've also really been loving using Rimmel Lip Liner in Spice as an all over colour with a tiny bit of gloss over the top. The colour is a really nice nude/pinky colour, perfect for everyday wear.

And finally a random beauty favourite is the clear no kinks hairbands from Boots; I really wanted to try the invsiabobbles, however they are quite expensive. So when I saw that Boots had their own version I decided to give them a whirl. I really love them and find for my thick hair they manage to hold all my hair up without the hairband slipping out.

Have you tried any of my May Favourites? What's been your favourite beauty product this month?

Lifestyle | First Day Essentials

So yesterday I started a brand new job, it was an impulsive decision to start looking for a new job and I was pretty shocked when I got an offer after my first interview for a job that sounded like a dream.

With starting a new job means new stationary!! Cause what blogger doesn't have hoards of notebooks and pens? So I thought I'd share with you some of my first day essentials and cute stationary. I've picked up two notebooks, one which was a gift when I left my previous job last week. The brown with gold geometric pattern was a gift from Paperchase and the white with various doodle is from Ban.Do on ASOS. I love the A5 sized notebooks as they are the perfect size to pop in your handbag for going to meetings. These two are super cute and will be getting filled with lots of things I need to remember how to do.

To match the notebook from Ban.Do I also picked up the pencil case, I love the size of this as well as it being matching meaning it will look perfect on my desk together. I also picked up some super cute pens from Ban.Do; the pastel colours are so cute and I think the sayings on them just make them even cuter.

My previous job also gifted me the amazing lipstick highlighters, I mean what kind of stationary haul/office essentials post would this be without some kind of highlighters. And finally my to do list pad, my new job will include lots of daily tasks that will need to be prioritised so this little pad from Sighh Designs will come in handy so much.

What are your first day essentials for school or a new job? What's your favourite stationary item?
