Lifestyle | What Are You Thankful For?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y'ALL!

Yes I know I'm not American and we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but I wanted to spread a little happiness and share what I am thankful as well as other people. I reached out on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook as well as messaging my friends to see what they are thankful for. I left this open for everyone to interpret how they wanted and this is what they said.

Sidonie - I'm thankful for my good health and my super cool boyfriend.

Jenny - Having Ben and Frankie in my life.

Hannah.S - I'm thankful for my good health, especially after this year and getting a new job so I'm not going to be made redundant anymore.

Murray - Thankful for my Sidrome.

Pippa - Family support, friends positivity and blogging opportunities.  I'm also thankful for the confidence people around me give me. Being comfortable in your own skin is helped by the trust and honesty from the people around you and the lack of anxiety in situations.

Natalie - My nephew being born.

KatyI am thankful that this year I managed to survive! I had a daughter this year (yay) and a really difficult birth. We were both poorly afterwards and the first few months of Motherhood were hard for me. I'm so grateful to have survived. I'm also grateful because I know there is always going to someone out there going through a worse time than me.

Hannah.CI am thankful because despite being made redundant twice this year, I've now got into a Digital Marketing apprenticeship and I'm loving it! I have a super supportive boyfriend and a new, good group of friends and everything seems to be setting into place - at last! 💗

AbiI'm thankful for the time I had off on maternity leave with my son. I was lucky enough to have just over a year off work, and now I am back full time, it makes me appreciate that precious time I did have with him. I am also extremely thankful for my wonderful husband who has made the transition of returning to work much easier than it otherwise might have been

ToriI am thankful for my daughter, she was a miracle baby 3yrs ago and I still appreciate her presents every single day. I may of gave her life on the 6th November 2013 but she brought me back to life that day too.

ClaireI am thankful for being able to take a sabbatical in 2016. My Mum passed away last Dec after a traumatic decline suffering from a brain tumour. My Dad died 3 years prior to that from Motor Neurons Disease. So as a family we have really suffered from debilitating and tragic illnesses. This year I gave up work (temporarily) as I felt I needed some take some time out. I started my blog and I am slowly restarting some freelance work from home.

Samantha -  I'm so thankful for all my friends and family this year! I had such a hard start to the year but they've made it amazing and I couldn't have got through it without them 😊❤

CharliI'm thankful for my parents for helping me out this year during the tough transitional period from graduating from university into the real world! It's still a struggle but I couldn't have done it without them!

Franthankful to all my wonderful family and friends 🙊

EmmaI'm thankful for all my wonderful friends and family

Lauren - I'm thankful for making it to Canada!

And finally Me - I'm thankful to have made it through the year; it's been particularly hard due to my Nan having her stroke but I'm taking each day as it comes. I'm also thankful for my friends who make each day easier.

What are you thankful for?

Lifestyle | The Week That Was #1

So we are having a bit of a change up from the 5 Good Things posts; I asked on Twitter if I should rename them and the majority of you said yes. I'm just going to talk about my week and what I got up to etc. This week was filled with catching up with friends, new music and a shopping trip. So let's take a look at the week.

Monday
After work on Monday I picked Emma up and we headed to Bluewater to meet Kylie & Natalie (our buddies from TrekAmerica) to have some food and a little catch up. Kylie is off to Thailand in a few weeks then onto Australia so we wanted some quality time together. However Emma and I are off to Eastbourne next week for her leaving party so we don't have to say goodbye just yet.

Tuesday
I'm struggling to think what happened on Tuesday! I did go to see my Nan and she was looking a bit better and said she felt a bit better. However she did end up being sick again later that night and we were all on stand by to see if an A&E trip would be needed again. One thing that did make me smile was watching Secret Life of a Four Year Old; this programme is too cute and makes me wish that life could be as simple as when we were four.

Wednesday
A got a Whatsapp late Wednesday evening from Pippa with an update of the house renovations! I'm not sure if I've mentioned fully that at the end of December I'm moving in with Pippa as well as two other housemates. The pictures got me excited and I was totally browsing Pinterest for ages afterwards.

Thursday
After weeks of saying to myself I'm going to go to B&M to have a look at their Bath & Body Works candle dupes; I finally did. I didn't realise how amazing B&M is and I've now got my eye on a few things for my new room when I move. I did pick up two candles; marshmallow fireside and radiant red maple. They actually smell amazing, even when they are burning and do burn evenly which is always a plus.

Friday
First off, my boss brought her dog to her work! This just made Friday even better! However I then got on the train and it took me over an hour to get from Fenchurch Street to Chafford Hundred due to a signal failure! By the time I got home I was so not in the mood to cook myself dinner so ended up going to the fish and chip shop for sausage and chips! Whoops!

Saturday
I gave myself a lay in yesterday morning and got up around 10am. I spent the morning catching up on YouTube videos and getting ready for the day. I popped in to see my Nan and she was definitely looking a lot better but she wasn't in the best of moods. I quickly went to Morrisons to pick up some bits for dinner; I ended up buying some mugs for moving out as well as a Christmas glass. I also finally got my KoKo Kollection by Kylie Cosmetics from the post office and I'm in love! The colours are just perfection!

Sunday
I've taken Amie, Emma, Nic and Stacey to Dagenham Market; as we are off to Wales next week we all are wanting some lounge suits for the lazy days we're planning on having. I'm also planning on taking some more blog photos and getting back in the swing of blogging.

Lifestyle | 5 Good (Well Sort Of) Things #6

I'm not going to lie and say this week has been good; in all honesty it's been a bit of a shit show to put it politely. What with Donald Trump actually becoming President on Wednesday morning; to my Nan having to go to hospital on Sunday, as she caught a bug going round her nursing home. By last night I was just ready to sleep for a week and go into hibernation.

However there was a few little things that did put a smile on my face and made me realise I'm quite lucky to have so many lovely people in my life.

1. Booking A Holiday
We all know I love a holiday; if I had enough holidays at work as well as cash flow I would go on a trip every month. These last two years I've been on quite action packed holidays that are non stop sightseeing and go go go. So I knew that next year I just wanted your traditional beach holiday, where I can lay by the pool with a good book during the day and then get dressed up in the evenings. So Friday, Emma and I finally made a decision to book Gran Canaria for a week in August. I CANNOT WAIT! It's all inclusive as well so I can drink all the cocktails and eat all the food!

2. Friday Night Hang Out
Friday evening a few of us headed round to my friend's Amie and Matt's to have a takeaway and have a chat about our trip to Wales in 2 weeks. We all had a giggle about Donald Trump as well as eating a delicious Indian; it was just a nice cosy evening.

3. Saturday Night Out
Saturday evening I got glammed up and headed out with my two oldest friends from school for a night of drinking and dancing. It was so nice just to catch up with them both as well as have a few drinks. We ended up in Dirty Martini which is one of my favourite places; however a girl did throw up on my foot when I was sitting at booth! So that wasn't too great!

4. The Missing
I'm loving this TV show and last week's episode did not disappoint! We have finally, potentially found out who the abductor/killer is and I was so shocked! I didn't even know who they were at first; however I'm still uncertain if it is definitely him. Only 3 more episodes left to get through.

5. Ordering The KoKo Kollection From Kylie Cosmetics
We all know I love The Kardashians and my fave is Khloe; so when I saw that she was releasing her own collection of liquid lipsticks/glosses with Kylie I had to get my hands on one! I stayed up till 11pm on Wednesday which is a big deal for me as I'm usually asleep by 10pm on weeknights. I kept hitting that refresh button and managed to bag myself one, which I was shocked at as they sold out within 6 minutes! I can't wait for it to arrive now; there will definitely be a review once I get my hands on them.

This week I'm hoping for things to pick up a little; my Nan is back at her nursing home however we're not out of the woods yet. I'm also off to dinner tonight with Emma and our two besties from Trek America. Plans for the rest of the week may involve some cocktails at the weekend as well as a little trip to Dagenham market.

What was your highlight from last week? Any exciting plans for this week?

Lifestyle | 5 Good Things #5

Can you believe I've actually done 5 of these Good Things posts now! Woo go me!

Lase week was actually a rather quiet one; other than Saturday evening but that said still a good one. Sometimes it's good to not have much planned and just chill out.

1. Getting Tickets To See The Weeknd.
So Monday morning I woke up and saw that The Weeknd had announced he was going on tour, my friend Nicola and I had been talking about how much we would love to see him in concert as we reckon he would be quite good live. So Wednesday morning Nic actually managed to get us tickets to go see him in March with our other pal Stacey. Now to get learning how to rap all the songs!

2. Baking Time
Saturday morning was spent baking Catherine Wheel cookies & Salted Caramel Toffee Apples for our Firework Party we have every year. I love baking and find it very calming; however this was a bit more of challenge as I had to get swirls into the dough and to be honest the looked a bit shit after being cooked! However my Toffee Apples looked amazing and the caramel tasted pretty good too!

3. Firework Party
Saturday evening we had our annual Firework Party; my mum had made 5 pots of Irish Stew in as many slow cookers. We also had hot dogs and curry; as well as a tonne of drink. I ended up with a fuzzy head and passed out in bed at 1am! However it was a super fun night; even if I don't remember any of the fireworks!

4. The Crown
So Friday evening I got home and put my pjs on straight away as I was so eager to get cosy and watch Netflix's latest offering The Crown. It's the most expensive TV show ever made and it's my dream show! I'm obsessed with The Queen and find that whole world really interesting. So this show is just perfect for me. I'm already on episode 7 and I can't wait for all the other seasons to follow.

5. Hangover Nando's
Sunday my hangover was at a new level - so I decided to head to Nando's to get a takeaway to see if that would cure me. I haven't had Nando's in ages and it was good! Apart from the fact I can't eat gluten anymore so garlic bread was a no no for me; however all the halloumi and butterfly chicken was consumed.

This week I'm starting to get in the festive spirit as I'm off to the launch of Intu Lakeside Christmas Market and Ice Skating Rink; as well as I'm off out on Saturday night with my best buddies from school for a night on the town!

What was the best thing for you last week?

Beauty | October Favourites

I feel like the months are just running away now; it's November tomorrow! November! However that does mean I can get my Christmas scented candles out and start watching Elf on repeat.

I've had a few favourites this month that of course I'm going to share with you once again.

Imperial Leather Fruit Chew Shower Cream
Ohmigosh, this stuff smells amazing! I literally smell like a fruit salad sweet after using this. I always find that using a strong scented shower gel more appealing in the shower as it makes it feel a bit more luxurious than just having a quick wash. This stuff lathers up amazingly as well.

Revlon Colourstay Foundation
As the weather changes so does my skin, again! Meaning I need to change up my foundation so it stays on all day. This gem from Revlon does the trick, I have the combination/oily formula and it has a matte finish meaning it stays on without my skin looking flaky and dry.

Benefit Roller Lash
I've been trying to go for the less is more look with my make up during the week; so I've been over compensating by making my lashes look really long. This mascara from Benefit was raved about when it first went on sale by lots of bloggers; I didn't fully cave and only purchased a mini size. Now I'm regretting not buying the full size as it really does lift and lengthen my lashes, they also don't end up falling during the day also.

Kylie Cosmetics Rose Gold Creme Eyeshadow
So I finally got my hands on the rose gold eyeshadow of dreams by Kylie Jenner. It is perfect for Autumn as it's got a really nice pinky/rose gold tone to it as well as being super creamy to apply. You can really blend this in or build up to look more intense. I find that it doesn't crease or rub off easily either, something that I often struggle with.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
I picked this up on my way back from America in July and have only actually recently started using it. I love that this is a balm, they seem to just work better for me in taking my make up off. This just melts your make up off completely and leaves your skin feeling fresh and really bouncy. Something that I think we all wished for.

What's been your favourite beauty item of October? Have you tried any of my favourites?

Lifestyle | 5 Good Things #4

This week has just flown by and whilst I was actually feeling really run down and had a huge migraine I did manage to have a good few productive days. So what was good with me this week?

1. Homemade Shepherd's Pie
My Mum got back holiday Monday evening so on Tuesday I was treated to a delicous homemade dinner of Shepherd's Pie. I was feeling the start of a migraine so getting into my PJs and tuck into my dinner. Shepherd's Pie is one of my favourites, especially during the Winter months so it was a nice bit of comfort after a week of fending for myself.

2. Keeping Up With The Kardashians
My favourite show is back on! We all know how much I adore watching The Kardashians; so the fact they are back for Season 12 makes me happy. Monday during my lunch at work I put this on and it just makes me happy; I can't wait to see how this season plays out, especially after the robbery in Paris earlier this month.

3. Starting The Gym
I finally did it and joined a local gym! They had an offer on meaning I only pay £10 for the first three months (what a bargain!) and it's not a contract so I can opt out at any time. I did my first class this morning, Legs, Bums and Tums; and I am aching already. Can't say I'm looking forward to getting up tomorrow and have the day after ache. I'm looking forward to getting a gym routine into place and try out some more classes.

4. Getting My Nails Done
It was payday on Friday so I finally was able to go and get my nails re done. I usually let my acrylics grow out for around 3 weeks; however this time it was 4 and they were awful! They had also got super long and I was starting to not be able to do things like tie my laces up. I decided on black for halloween as well as they just look a lot more chic.

5. GBK Friday Pay Day Treat
Friday was pay day! FINALLY!!! So at lunch time I was like I want to treat myself to an amazing lunch; after spending about 2 hours trying to decide what I want I went with GBK. As I've just found out that I'm gluten intolerant I had a gluten free Bacon & Cheese Burger with skinny fries and a salted caramel milkshake. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! Especially the milkshake!

Lifestyle | Pumpkin Picking

OUTFIT DETAILS
Hat - Primark, Pinafore - Primark, Top - ASOS
Jacket - Topshop, Boots - New Look, Bag - Zara

Could I be anymore Autumn right now? Last weekend Emma and I headed off for a little afternoon trip to Foxes Farm Produce in Basildon to do a little pumpkin picking; cause that's what all the cool kids are doing lately.

It was a perfect crisp Autumn day with some sunshine, perfect pumping picking weather. The farm itself is free to enter and is a great family day out. The pumpkins cost from £1 for the teeny tiny ones, which I think is a bargain. The farm is totally cute also, it has lots of spots for photos as well as a corn maze and food stalls.

There was lots of pumpkins to choose from as well as all colours and sizes; and the farm itself stretched out for a good few miles.

If you're looking for a day out that totally is #AutumnGoals then head down to Foxes Farm Produce, the Pumpkin Patch closes on Monday (31st) so you don't have long! However if you do miss out on the pumpkins don't panic as they then have a Christmas Tree Farm in Upminster from 28th November.

Have you been pumpkin picking this Autumn?

Beauty | Skin Chemists Caviar Range*

I've said it before but I'll say it again; skincare is something you should invest in if you are after good skin, that and drinking lots of water. I'm always looking at what to add into my skincare routine in order to get the best results.

When the folks over at skinChemists London got in touch to see if I would be interested in trying out some of the products from their new Caviar range I was up for giving this a whirl. They generously sent across the  Advanced Caviar Facial Serum and the Advanced Caviar Day Moisturiser.

I've been really trying to get into using serums before applying my moisturiser and have noticed a difference since using this one. It is really great at hydrating the skin and working on any dry patches something I tend to suffer from once the colder weather comes around. It's a really light serum that doesn't cling onto the skin either.

The Advanced Caviar Day Moisturiser is a thick moisturiser that does dry quickly into the skin. Like the serum it's great for hydration and makes your skin have a mattified finish; perfect for before applying your make up. Once applied it really does make a great primer for your make up and helps to make it last all day.

Overall I would recommend the caviar range from skinChemists; however for me personally this range is a little pricey and would be purchased if I was looking for a really big treat to myself.

Have you tried any products from skinChemists?

Lifestyle | Bloom by Estee Lalonde

There's a lot of books by YouTuber's out there to read; however personally none of them have really grabbed me enough to pick up and buy as they seemed more aimed at a younger audience. However when I heard that Estee Lalonde was releasing a book, it actually got me excited.

Estee; or known previously as Essie Button, has brought out her first book entitled Bloom. And boy it's a good'un! Bloom captures all aspects of Estee's life from childhood, moving to England for true love as well as all the other stuff you would expect from a Beauty YouTuber/Blogger.

What I love most about the book is the style of writing; it feels exactly how Estee would talk to you and like you are finding out new secrets/tips from one of your oldest friends. The photography in the book is also stunning and really captures who Estee is; as well as making  you want to up your own Instagram game.

The best part of the book to me, is the section entitled Love. Here Estee gives details of how Aslan and her met, as well as deciding to make the big move from Canada to the UK in order to follow her heart. Estee also gives a few tips on what she's learned about love which I can totally relate to.

I actually got the chance to attend Estee's Q&A Session in Waterstones Tottenham Court Road the other week and it was a super chilled laid back evening. Estee truly comes across how she does in her videos; there's no falseness about her at all. I also managed to get my book signed and have a little chat with Estee which just filled my heart with happiness!

If you're looking for a great read that also makes a great coffee table book, cause that cover is just dreamy! Then definitely pick up a copy of Bloom.

Have you read Bloom? What did you think? What is your opinion on bloggers/youtubers releasing books?

Lifestyle | 5 Good Things #3

Another week has whizzed by and I couldn't be more happier for the weekend to recover and recharge the batteries. So what's been making me smile this week.

1. Bake Off Wednesday
Wednesday was a long day at work; I was in super early as we had an important meeting that day so by the time I got home on Wednesday I was ready to curl up with a blanket and just sleep. Which I did but not till after watching The Bake Off. I'm going to miss watching Mel & Sue every week and it was sad to see Selasi go. However I am excited for the final next week.

2. Pippa & Fran Coming To Stay
My two blogging buddies Pippa and Fran came to stay last night. I made Spaghetti & Meatballs in the slow cooker as I knew I'd be out in the afternoon and didn't want to be stuck in the kitchen most of the evening. We had prosecco, girlie chats, watched X Factor and just enjoyed our evening.

3. Little Mix New Song - Shout Out To My Ex
OMG this song is my new jam; I'm a big fan of Little Mix and when I heard this song it didn't dissapoint. I've been singing it non stop as well as humming it without noticing. It is such a girl anthem for anyone who has had an ex that has made them feel more empowered after the split.

4. Pumpkin Picking
Saturday afternoon Emma and I decided to head to Foxes Farm near Basildon to go Pumpkin Picking. The sun was shining and there was a chill in the air; perfect Autumn day if you ask me. There was lots of families there which was cute to see as the kids were so excited to see all the pumpkins. There is a blog post coming next week with some more photos of our day.

5. New Blog Logo
So you may have noticed that I've had a little makeover of my logo! The fabulous Jemma from Dorkface, did the design for me after some back and forth on my behalf in regards to what I wanted. I'm so happy with the final look; I feel that it really encompasses what LLW is about.

This week I've got a few things lined up; I'm off to Halloween Event on Wednesday; it's the final of @GBBO and my mum is back from holiday which means no more doing my own washing.

What's been your favourite thing from last week? Any exciting plans for next week?

Lifestyle | 5 Blogs You Should Read

Even though I write a blog; I do spend a lot of my time reading other blogs as I find that this helps with my creativity and keeps me inspired daily. So I thought I would share with you 5 blogs that I'm loving lately; the ones that get me excited and all hyped up to write my own blog posts or take amazing photos for Instagram.

Dorkface
Jemma's blog is just full of bright colours and amazing illustrations; not only that but she writes about her general life musings (her 2am Existential Crisis post really got me in the feels) as well as beauty and other things. Jemma also runs #TheGirlGang, a supportive community for all bloggers to get involved with. Which is such a great thing to see as often the blogging community can be pulled own with negativity.

FrannyMac
Fran's blog is what photo dreams are made of; she's really upped her game here and I love seeing her a photo diary posts from around London. There's a big mix of days out, beauty reviews and my current favourite to read is her week in lipstick posts. I also love the layout of Fran's blog which is one of the main reasons I keep coming back.

Jade With A Blog
Jade's blog is a recent find after meeting her briefly at an Intu Lakeside event in September and I'm so happy I've found it. Jade does amazing witty outfit posts; that make me want to rush off shopping instantly. As well as posting about various places in Essex; her post about The Royal Hotel in Southend has made me want to grab my pals and go for cocktails there. As well Jade's Instagram is just goals; like I don't know how she manages to do an OOTD nearly everyday. especially as I can just about dress myself each day.

Hannah Gale
Hannah's blog is my go to happy place; I know if I'm having a freak out over something I can read one of her posts and feel like I'm chatting away to an old friend. I love the mix of posts that Hannah does from her list style posts (22 Reasons Why Being In Your Late Twenties is Awesome, is one of my faves!) to her diary style writing from trips and general day to day life.

If you are looking to vent all your dating/relationship woes than Vix's blog is the one! You'll find yourself nodding away in agreement to a lot of what she writes in regards to dating; her musings post are what I find hysterical the most. Especially her latest, 10 things that make someone ghost. I have pretty much had all of them done to me; which makes me wander perhaps my dating time is up!

Have you read any of the blogs I've mentioned? Who's your favourite blog to read right now?

Lifestyle | 5 Good Things #2

1. Driving My Car
So this week I've been let loose on the roads on my own! It's been strange as I've got so used to having someone next to me telling me what turning to take etc. but I've really enjoyed the freedom it's giving me. However as I type this at 10pm Saturday evening I'm waiting to go pick my Mum up from her night out. I wont lie though and say it's been plain sailing; I think I've pretty much stalled my car on every journey I've done. However I know that I need to get used to the car as it is completely different from the car I learned to drive in.

2. Getting My Hair Done
My roots have desperately needed doing for a while now; so I'm excited to finally be getting them sorted today. There is nothing better to lift your mood then getting a fresh colour and a trim. I'm not planning on getting anything drastic this time; however my fringe does need a good trim as I'm currently rocking the 90s boyband curtains look.

3. Afternoon Pub Session
Saturday afternoon I went to one of my local pub for a late lunch to celebrate my friend Murray's birthday. It was nice chilled afternoon and we sat for a good few hours eating, chatting and trying to put snapchat filters on each other without noticing.

4. TGI Friday's
Thursday night I met up with Emma and her sister Aimee to go grab some dinner. We decided on TGIs and boy it was a treat; they did two courses for £15 and it was delicious. I hadn't been to TGIs in about a year so was nice to treat myself to a super indulgent meal as well as catching up with my bestie.

5. New Vlogging Camera
So my vlogging camera broke the other week and I literally thought "shit; I don't have time to replace this right now." However I managed to collect some pennies together and got the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ10EB. Okay it's not the fanciest of vlog cameras; but it does have a flip screen and WiFi!! Meaning I can send photos to my phone to upload to Instagram. Anyway long story short; the weekly vlogs will be back next Monday!

Travel | Girls Trip To Manchester

Last weekend I had arrived in Manchester for a girlie weekend away with 4 of my best buds. As most of my friends are in relationships; we often find it hard to all get together just us girls. It was a weekend filled with girl talk, films, rubbish food and lots of alcohol.

Friday we spent the night in; just catching up on each others lives as well as having a Chinese and watching Mean Girls, The Proposal and Bridesmaids. It was a cosy evening and just what we all needed to recharge our batteries.

Saturday we jumped on the train into Manchester City Centre for a wander around the Arndale Centre as well as grabbing some food at Turtle Bay to line our stomachs before a night out on the town. We ended up just taking our time getting ready in the evening and headed to Revolucion de Cuba for some drinks and dancing.

Hangovers were all around Sunday morning; but it was worth it! It had been a while since I got dressed up and went on a night out! Now I can't wait for our week in Wales in December!

Have you visited Manchester before? What's your favourite thing to do on a girls weekend?
