Guest Post | Benefit's How To Look The Best At Everything Kit

Today's guest post is from Fiona over at Wishes, Hopes & Dreams.

It’s been a long time since I wore make-up on a day to day basis so as a way to ease myself in gently decided to give the How To Look The Best At Everything kit from Benefit a try rather than buying full size products and not liking them. I had used boi-ing by Benefit before and it was the inclusion of this concealer which swung it from a maybe to a must buy box.

Box includes:

The POREfessional
I wasn’t too keen on this product if I’m honest and yes I know it will upset a few people. It felt quite grainy and I didn’t feel it did anything for my skin.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation
This foundation took a little getting used to as for nights out I was using a mousse foundation so on first application of this I may have been a little heavy handed with it; however, I did end up with a good coverage overall and it wasn’t too yellow on my pale skin.

Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer 01 & 02
I have used this concealer before and I knew from experience that the lighter shade would be perfect for me now and the slightly darker shade would work well while I’m holiday and will have (hopefully) picked up a bit of colour. It applies really well especially under my eyes and covers those annoying spots on my chin too.

“I Love Me” Powder in Ivory plus Brush
Being brutally honest, I really don’t like this powder. It didn’t apply well and made me look very yellow which as I’m very pale made me look ill - I aim for a natural finish to my makeup when I wear it.

Overall the box was a good purchase as it confirmed that I will be buying a full size boi-ing when that one is finished and I’ll hang onto the foundation but other than that I’m not too impressed by the box. It was still better value than buying full size products though.

Beauty | America Beauty Product Wishlist

The fact I'm in America right now means I can finally get my hands on some products that I've been lusting over for ages. This super excites me, so of course I need to share with you the items I'm hoping to bring back with me.

LORAC Unzipped Gold Eye Shadow Palette
Any kind of gold eye shadow is a winner in my books. I've heard so many good things about the LORAC eye shadow palettes that this just has to come back to the UK with me.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
I'm always on the hunt for new eyeliners that just make my winged eyeliner look amazing; so this Kat Von D Tattoo liner needs to come home with me as I've heard Anna from Vivanna Does Make Up rave about this!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
Another find from Anna is this liquid lipstick by Kat Von D! I've heard this has got great lasting power and pigmentation so I'm definitely going to pick up one or two shades to try.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush
Another brand that I've heard so many good things about so I'm desperate to get my hands on the blush! Just because the packing is so pretty!!

LORAC Pro Palette 2
Of course this is on my wishlist! Is there any need to explain why?

Anastasia Brow Wiz
Yeah I know I can get this now in the UK, but lets face it, it's cheaper over in The States. Of course I'm going to pick this up as I'm desperate to get my "brows on fleek"

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation
I've seen all the American beauty gurus rave about this foundation so it seems only right that I pick it up to try it myself.

Tartlette Amazonian Clay Matte Eye Shadow Palette
Cause a girl can never have too many eye shadow palettes right? The packaging on this palette is just BEAUTIFUL! I've also heard that the pigmentation is great, which just makes this a must have!

What's your must have beauty product from America? Have you tried any of the products on my wishlist?

Beauty | Short Hair Essentials

It seems everyone lately is rocking the "lob" haircut, me included! I love how easy it is to style in the mornings as well as when I do have the time to style my hair properly.

I have three things that I would say are essential for making my "lob" look worthy of being seen outside the confines of my house. First up is OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Reviving Dry Oil; this is the shizzle that keeps the ends of my hair from drying up and looking like straw. I give a small spritz of this over the ends of my hair after towel drying; so my hair can soak up all the goodness that it can offer!
Generally I like to leave my hair to dry naturally; as being a blonde, heat sometimes take to well to my hair and leaves it looking more like a frizzy mess. But this sometimes means that I don't get the volume you get from blow drying; this is where the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray comes in. I love this stuff now my hair is short! Give a good spray into your roots and mid lengths you'll be given instant texture and volume to your hair, making it Ashley Benson worthy!
And finally to brush my tresses I could not be without my trusty Tangle Teezer. If your hair is notorious for being knotty, then this will answer your problems. It will get those knots out in seconds especially when wet, which is when my hair tends to be the worse.

What are your short hair essentials? Have you considered getting the "lob" cut?

Guest Post | The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

Today's guest post comes from the lovely Lizzie from Lizaboo.

My sunday pamper ritual is dominated by all things beauty. I can never deny myself a long hot bath, with candles, bubbles and all the works, washing away the weekend and refreshing myself for the new week ahead.
But disaster almost struck recently when I had completely forgotten to re-order one of my trusted Liz Earle exfoliators. I can’t start a week without a good scrub, and this goes without saying for my face.
However I was just in luck, as during the day I’d been to Body Shop to purchase a gift for a friend, where I was completely sold a bucket load of products by the sales assistant, and typically ended up walking out with far more than I bargained for.
At the time I kicked myself for being so naive, but come Sunday night when all I had was my Body Shop Vitamin C Scrub, I was quite thankful I’d been taken advantage of.
She must of seen beauty blogger written all over my forehead!

I’m telling you this long winded story to make you realise that I didn’t choose the Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub, it found me.
And as it wasn’t a choice that I’d made. (Trust me when I say, beauty purchases usually involve far more research.) I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt, and let it be my scrub for one night, and one night only.

But just as I was ready to wave goodbye to it after a sunday night stand and lose it forever to the top shelf of my bathroom cupboard, it completely stole the show!

Now for those of you that are new to this fandangled word ‘Microdermabrasion’, it’s a technical facial procedure where the outer layer of dead skin is removed by light abrasion, revealing a softer more youthful look to the skin.
So wanting to achieve this in a scrub, Body Shop have combined very fine beads with Vitamin C to give you that Microdermabrasion facial at home, and without any scary machines.

Layered in a rich formula of Shea Butter, this has to be without a doubt an unsung hero in the world of exfoliators.
Not only did my skin feel super soft afterwards, but it also glowed with health and warmth.
As a lover of the citrus variety anyway, it smells like summer in a bottle. Sweet and juicy with that well-known clean feeling.
Personally I apply this after cleansing my face, and squeezing just a little into my palms before rubbing it vigorously across my face.
I honestly never thought it would make a difference. But isn’t it wonderful when a product surprises you? A little bit like you’ve just found gold.
Body Shop have certainly been out of my beauty bag for a while, but I can see that I’m probably going to be spending more money there soon, and without the help of a sales assistant this time around.

Have you tried The Body Shop's Vitamin C Microdemabrasion? What's your favourite exfoliator?

Beauty | The Bright Orange Lip

Summer's here, Summer's here!! That means you can finally bash out that bright orange/coral lip and it not look out of place as it would do in the colder months. I've finally perfected the orange lip and have recently been wearing it when ever I get the chance to.

To start with I've been using Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm in Audacious; this is a great crayon lip colour that you can really use to define and outline your lips. You can either apply this lightly or go all out for a heavy orange colour.
After that I tend to lock that in place with a lipgloss, this one being from LOLA in shade 003 Orange. I love this gloss as it adds a sheen to your lips making them look super glossy but not sticky. As well it being super long lasting meaning that orange lip can stay on pass one drink.

What are your favourite lip products for an orange lip? What's your ultimate summer lip shade?

Travel | What's In My Hand Luggage

I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into what I took in my hand luggage for America, as I love reading these type of posts as you often find ideas for things to take that you sometimes hadn't even thought of!

The Important Stuff
First things first, the important stuff that you can't go on away without. My travel documents wallet is from Accessorize, it's part of the Hello London range and I think it cost around £7. In there is my passport, with it's amazing personalised Clairabella passport cover, all my paperwork for Trek as well tickets for The Rockefeller, Top of the Rock. I've also got a little tip calculator my mum gave me and my currency card and US sim card.
I've also got my personalised Chroma Stationary notebook, in my favourite colours mint green and gold! This is so I can write down all about the trip, ready to blog about when I get back.
Finally of course my dollars, to spend when I get to New York.

The Beauty Stuff
I picked up this super cute eye mask from ASOS, not only will this come in handy for the plane if I need a snooze but also for sleeping in the tents as it tends to get bright super early. I've also got face wipes and all my beauty bits; you can find out more about them HERE! I always take wet wipes with me as you never know when you'll need them they are just super handy to have; and likewise with the million packets of minon tissues!

The Tech Stuff
Technology wise I'm keeping it simple in my hand luggage by only taking my powerbank by EasyAcc to keep all my gadgets going; my iPad to keep me entertained as I have downloaded a few TV shows to watch whilst on the move. My brand new Sony headphones that I've been dying to use since they arrived and of course my iPhone to take some instagrams & snapchats, as well as send some parting tweets before taking off. I'm also going to be taking my vlogging camera in my hand luggage, but it was on charge when I took these photos!

The bag I'm using is the Herschel Post Backpack in Black Kaleidoscope.

What are your hand luggage essentials? Do you over pack your hand luggage or keep it to a minimum?
Let me know in the comments.

Guest Post | How To Be Self-Confident (Even If You’re Not)

As I'm currently in America; I've asked a few people to guest post for me. Today is the lovely Beatrice from Mademoiselle Nomad

In a world where magazines and billboards show us what the perfect body looks like and society seems to dictate where we stand in relation with the rest of humankind, it might be easy to want to dig a hole and stay there forever. That said, the world needs you – after all, you were born for a purpose.

The purpose is to live fully and to step forward with confidence in the pursuit of turning your dreams into reality. Easier said than done, wouldn’t you think so?

Not so much because today, we bring you 5 simple ways to be self-confident in everyday life situations:

1. Stand tall
No matter what your height is, stand tall. This means shoulders back, eyes looking straight ahead in a fearless manner, chin up and chest open. By simply changing your posture that way, you will look – and feel – more confident. Having a great posture will also earn you respect from others effortlessly. The way you stand and carry yourself says a lot about you.

2. Smile
Audrey Hepburn said it best when she mentions how happiest girls are always the prettiest. With this quote in mind, wear a smile everywhere you go. Not only will it make you more approachable, you will also be more attractive because there will be a ray of happiness across your face. Smiling makes it easy to break the ice in social situations where you might feel somewhat shy or unsure what to say.

3. Use positive affirmations
You do not need to be a hippie or a monk to have some positive ‘mantras’ to help you get on with life. By cultivating a positive mindset, you will constantly be filtering your mind of bad thoughts. Thoughts that will otherwise bring you more harm than good because they drain you and suck out any kind of life-giving properties within you. Simply put, thinking of positive things will make you have a healthy outlook on life and enable you to appreciate what you have and who you are. For instance, replace “I don’t think I am good enough” by “I am myself and I am wonderful. I will make it.”

4. Start your day with a thankful heart
Each morning, before you even start to get ready for work, school or any other activity, count your blessings. There are many things to be grateful for if we only take a few minutes each day to appreciate the fact that we are alive, that we can breathe, that we have food on our plates and a roof over our head. Think of the friends and family you have that make your life worth living and be patient for the things that your heart is still waiting for. By
learning to be grateful, you’ll be more at peace and this peace will radiate on the outside. You will be less tense or anxious, therefore your whole body language will speak volumes to others around you about the kind of person you are. Nobody can resist being around someone who has an unshakeable inner peace.

5. Have a signature style
Beyond trends and what’s the hottest look currently, know what suits you and what makes you look amazingly beautiful. If you don’t like your flabby arms, by all means hit the gym and get them toned. However, there are certain things you can’t change about your body, for instance your height, the colour of your eyes, the size of your forehead, the shape of your face and so on. By having your own signature style, you will enhance your assets and wear clothes that are appropriate for you. The right fit, as opposed to what’s in right now. The colour that suits you best as opposed to the colour of the season. Outfits that will reveal your natural beauty and display you at your best.

Self-confidence is not unreachable and something only for the wealthiest or the prettiest. It is something that each of us can learn and cultivate and grow. The more you practice, you’ll get better at it and sooner than you realize, you’ll be walking confidently in every sphere of life and truly shine.

What are your top tips for being self confident? What holds you back from feeling confident?

Fashion | Flying OOTD

Now usually I would do an OOTD with me actually wearing the outfit; however this is a scheduled post for whilst I'm away meaning I didn't want to actually wear the stuff before going. Cause you know brand new trousers that I wanna keep brand new! So I give you a flatlay of my outfit for flying to New York.

Of course being that its a long afternoon/evening flight I want to be as comfy as possible; this means baggy trousers for me. These trousers are from New Look and they are super comfy! I love the tile print with the contrasting coral stripes down the sides. I'm pairing these with a black crepe material cowl neck top from Primark, which has quickly become my favourite top that I wear whenever I can (I also have it in white, that's how much I love it.)

As planes tend to get a bit chilly, I will be wearing my black H&M hoodie and H&M leather jacket to keep me warm. Shoes wise, well to save room in my suitcase I'm wearing a pair of my sandals. This trusty gold elastic pair are from New Look, last year. Of course I'm also bringing a pair of cosy socks to keep my feet warm once in the air; cause there's nothing worse than cold feet.

What's your go to outfit for flying? Are you airport chic or all about the comfort?

Beauty | Top 5 Make Up To Take Abroad

With going to America for 5 weeks and the fact that I'm not in one spot for the whole time I had to really think about what key make up items I wanted to take with me that I felt I couldn't live without. So today I'm sharing the Top 5 Make Up To Take Abroad.

  1. NARS Virtual Domination Palette. This covers all your contour and blush needs whilst away as it has 3 blushes, a highlighter and a bronzer. As you can see I love the Laguna bronzer so much as I've hit pan, meaning it was a sure fire hit to be packed in my make up bag.
  2. Rimmel Wake Me Up BB Cream. Being abroad in the sun, you don't want to slather your face in foundation. This BB cream is great as it's really brightening as well as just being light enough to give you enough coverage. What also makes this greats is that it has an SPF of 20 as well! Bonus points over here!
  3. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. To keep that sweaty shine at bay this is a holy grail powder that will ensure your make up stays flawless in high heat.
  4. SPF Lip Balm. This is one from Tesco's own suncare range, but it's essential to keep your lips protected from the sun as well as the rest of your body! I know I'll be slathering this on my lips all the time to keep them safe!
  5. Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Waterproof Mascara. Being in hot weather you'll want some waterproof mascara to ensure your lashes look mighty fine the whole time! I love the standard version of this mascara so it was a no brainer to pick up the waterproof for America.

What make up item do you always take away on holiday? Have you used any of the items I've mentioned?
Let me know in the comments below.

Lifestyle | May Favourites

I've got quite a few favourites to share with you all from May that I've just been loving A LOT! So let's get stuck right into them!

  • La Roche Posay Serozinc has been a dream for my bad breakouts this month. I love the fact it's a fine mist toner water and it just sorts out all my skin problems.
  • Soap & Glory's Sugar Crush Fragrance Mist has just been my go to fragrance every day since I purchased this bottle! The scent is really that summer smell and I can't wait to wear it in America as a scent can bring back more memories than a photo can do sometimes.
  • MAC Plumful Lipstick is the perfect daytime lip for this time of year, well in fact probably all round? It has that plummy/nude tone to it that just make my lips look better than they actually are.
  • Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovey Pink, a perfect blush that gives the right amount of highlight as well. I've found this works really well for creating a sunkissed look.
  • Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Dry Shampoo has just been my saviour on days when I haven't had time to wash my hair! I love the scent of this product as well as it works perfectly with the shampoo and conditioner I use; and especially now my roots have been done this just works great on bright blonde hair.

  • New Look Sunglasses. These sunglasses are my new favourites, I love everything about them! The coloured mirrored lenses, the shape, the frames, just everything!! I can't wait to get more wear out of them in America.
  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I've become slightly obsessed with watching The Kardashians and following them on all forms of social media as of late. I've really found it interesting to see how the whole family have been coping with Bruce's transition to becoming female especially on the younger children in the family. As well it's great entertainment to watch, my faves are Khloe, Scott and Kendall!
  • Nashville. I put Nashville on at a whim when trying to find a new TV show to watch; well I'm so glad I did! I think I watched the whole first two seasons in around a week. Nashville is about two country music superstars and their lives. I'm not going to give much away but it is drama filled, has a great soundtrack and brilliant acting. Hayden Panettiere plays one of the main leads and I love her character, Juliette, so much. I also love the two girls who play Maddie & Daphne as they have amazing voices and are sisters in real life. (I'm actually listening to the soundtrack right now and it just makes me so happy, country music is my new favourite! Who knew?)
  • Taylor Swift's Bad Blood Music Video. OH MY GOD!!! I think I've watched this video around 20 times already. I just love everything about it. It's so over the top for a music video but so great at the same time. I also love that it has all of my favourite woman in it; Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevinge, Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez. I also love Kendrick Lamar on the new version Taylor has brought out for the video. I urge you to go watch if you're like the only person left on the planet that hasn't.

What have been your faves in May? Have you seen Bad Blood? What's been your favourite beauty product from May?
Let me know in the comments.

Beauty | My In Flight Essentials

In 3 days time I'll be off on my American adventure! However I have a seven and half hour flight to tackle first of all!

Flying is something that I love to hate, I do get a bit jittery due to my anxiety and also because I get travel sickness sometimes. So on long haul flights I like to take some beauty products that make me feel at little bit more at ease as well as keeping me feeling fresh for when I land.

As my flight is in the afternoon I know around 8pm I'll be wanting to remove all the make up I've had on my face all day. So I'll be using the Garnier Micellar Extra Gentle Cleansing Wipes to do this. Yes I know face wipes are considered the devil for beauty bloggers; but unfortunately the usual cleanse and tone routine wont be able to happen so many thousand feet in the air. I've also decided to bring the Clinque Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturiser to really hydrate my skin due to all the fake air on the plane as well as the Avene Thermal Water Spray to give my skin that extra bit of hydration as I tend to get extremely dehydrated skin whilst flying. I'm also bringing my EOS Coconut Lip Balm for my lips to keep them soft and kissable! (Well got to have them prepared for all the American boys)

Before landing I'll want to put a bit of face on, bearing in mind it will be 1.30am UK time (7.30pm NYC time.) This is just my personal preference! So I'll be putting on some of my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealor under my eyebags to brighten them up as I'll probably be looking like some kind of zombie. Then it will just be a tad bit of The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream for a little bit of colour and then a splash of the Maybelline Sensational mascara to give my lashes a bit of length.

I'm also planning on picking up a face mask for the plan just to while away the time as well as keep my skin really hydrated!

What are your beauty essentials whilst on the plane? Are you a make up on the plane kind girl? Or bare faced?
Let me know in the comments.
