Blogmas Day 14 | My Christmas Soundtrack

Christmas Soundtrack

A quick post today for Blogmas but I wanted to share my Christmas soundtrack that I've had on constant repeat for the last two weeks! I love putting this on whilst on my way to work as it puts me in a great mood for the rest of the day; something that is hard when it comes to Monday mornings. Favourite songs are Michael Buble's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) & Elton John's Step Into Christmas.

You can listen to my playlist by following it on Spotify, here!

What's your favourite Christmas song?

Blogmas Day 13 | Getting Your Room Christmas Ready

Xmas Room 1

Xmas Room 2

Xmas Room 3

Xmas Room 4

A little glimpse into how I've decorated my bedroom for Christmas this year. Unfortunately the majority of the items are from previous years so they might be unable to buy now; however I'm sure there are alternatives out there that you can get your hands on.

First up on my shelves is my Ho Ho Ho sign, which is great for sitting on shelves or mantelpieces. It brings a little festive spirit without being to over the top. I also have another sign from Paperchase hanging from my shelves which says "tis the season to be jolly", because sometimes you need reminders of this as it can be a stressful month. The hanging suckers that this sign and my fairy lights are on are from Poundworld and they are great; the fairy lights are also from Poundworld and are battery operated.

Finally what I love most about my bedroom Christmas decor is my bed! It just looks so cosy and festive. The bedding itself is from Asda, who do a great selection of festive bedding. I swear every year I want to buy a new set! The "You Had Me At Ho Ho" pillow is also from Asda and the rest of the pillows are from Primark. My throws are also from Primark, because what's Christmas without a cosy blanket to snuggle in whilst watching a film?

Do you decorate your bedroom for Christmas? Have you got any favourite homeware shops for Christmas decor?

Blogmas Day 11 | Four Films To Get You Feeling Festive

Festive Films 1

Festive Films 2

Festive Films 3

Festive Films 4

I love nothing more than getting in my Christmas pjs, snuggling up with a blanket, drinking some hot chocolate & watching a Christmas film to get me in the festive spirit. So I thought I would share with you guys four films to get you feeling festive.

Miracle on 34th Street is a film that just gets me truly believing in Santa! I love Mara Wilson and Richard Attenborough in this. It also makes me cry when Kris Kringle gets arrested because old people always get me emotional. However overall the film is great for getting you in the pre Christmas spirit.

If your looking for a traditional British comedy that will have all the family in stitches than Nativity is the film for you. This is great for getting all the family to watch as it is really light hearted comedy, that has the kids as the star of the film. Nativity never fails to cheer me up if I'm feeling a bit rubbish so I urge you to pick this one up.

A classic Christmas film next, that is pretty much my favourite of all time, is Elf. I'm sure pretty much all of you have watched this film! It always has me in stitches and don't tell anyone but I watch this all year round as it's actually a really good film.

Finally an animated Christmas film, that warms my heart every time I watch it; is Arthur Christmas. I love that this film captures how I imagine the North Pole to be in the 21st Century, with all the technology and generations of Santa Claus. Arthur also really makes me happy as he seems a ball of festive fun and wanting to spread Christmas cheer to all the child.

What film gets you in the festive spirit? Is there a film I've mentioned you haven't seen?

Blogmas Day 10 | Lipsticks To Last Through Christmas Dinner

Christmas Lipsticks 1

Christmas Lipsticks 2

Christmas Lipsticks 3

Christmas Lipsticks 4

Trying to find that perfect Christmas Lipstick that will last through your turkey dinner and glasses of prosecco? This blog post may have the answer for you then. I've got seven lipsticks that have the staying power to get through the most extravagant meal of the year; covering nudes, reds and purple shades that are great for the festive period.

Nudes
- Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare. This is a lip stain which has the power to last through anything. It's a really nice pink nude colour that just makes your lips look better, perfect if you're not wanting anything to OTT for Christmas day.
- MAC Velvet Teddy. We all know how much this shade has been in demand this year, but I can see why. This is a beige nude that is one of my personal favourites, it is a matte finish so will last throughout our meal.

Purples
- MAC Rebel. This is a berry toned shade of lipstick that is a firm favourite amongst bloggers. It goes on quite sheer for a matte finish; however it is really buildable so you can build up the intensity of the purple shade.
- MAC Heroine. Now this is a purple shade that lasts. It's a really deep purple shade that looks great with a gold smoky eye. Once again another matte finish as I find that this lasts longer when eating and drinking.
- Rimmel Kate Moss 107. This is pretty much the drugstore dupe of MAC rebel; however I do find that this one lasts a little longer on the lips and is more of a reddy/purple shade.

Reds
- NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. A Christmas red lipstick is a must have staple and this one from NARS is great for lasting through Christmas dinner. As the name suggest it's a matte finish; however it's not drying and really lasts which is what we want!
- Lush Emotional Brilliance in Power. This is an orangey red that has specks of gold running through it, perfect for the Christmas period wouldn't you say? As it's like a gloss/stain it can stay on through dinner and drinks making it a winner for Christmas dinner.

Which is your favourite Christmas lipstick shade? Which do you think has the lasting power through dinner and drinks?

Blogmas Day 7 | Winter Skincare Saviours

winter skincare 1

winter skincare 2

winter skincare 3

winter skincare 4

Winter can be hard on your skin & I'm not just talking about your face, I mean all over! With the wind battering away (as I write this Storm Desmond is going full force) your skin can really take a hit, making it dehydrated and looking dull.

These are all my Winter Skincare Saviours that I find helps my skin look its best during the winter months.

For keeping your hands silky smooth and hydrated, Lush Dream Cream is brilliant. It's all natural and self preserving, meaning it's great for extra sensitive skin. What makes this even great is that Dream Cream can be used all over your body also, so if you're having a spell of really dry skin this may help get rid.
If your wanting something with a bit of a scent, however, to moisturise your body; Soap & Glory's Righteous Butter is great. It's really hydrating and leaves your skin feeling really luscious; this pot also seems to last a really long time.

Face mask wise, Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is perfect for rehydrating your face overnight. This is ultimately the lazy girls face mask as you apply before bed and leave it on to sink in whilst you sleep; then waking up with a fully hydrated face.
From your face to your feet, Soap & Glory's Heel Genius keeps those footises fresh. I find that my feet are more dehydrated in the winter months from wearing tights and socks all the time. So this foot lotion is great for getting the moisture back in them.

For morning, The Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream is the item of choice. It's really light and as the title says illuminating, which is perfect for winter as you still want your skin to look glowing.
Cleansing your face is an important step, especially for taking off all that Christmas party make up; the Eve Lom Cleanser is great for this. It's really luxurious and makes your face feel like it's having a treat; as well as it being super for getting all your make up off.
If you find yourself suffering from dry skin on your legs during the colder months, its great to give them an exfoliate. Zoella's Srubbing Me Softly is great for getting the dry patches that may have popped up off, ready to then moisturise and make your legs silk smooth.

What are your Winter Skincare Saviours? Have you tried any of my skincare saviours?

Blogmas Day 6 | The Best Christmas PJs

Nothing says Christmas to me more than a good pair of Christmas pyjamas, I love getting cosy with a film and some good chocolate whilst in the most comfiest pjs. These are the ones that I'm loving that are out there to buy this Christmas.

I've actually decided to buy the Winter Wonderland set from Asda, as they look super warm and great & will keep you warm without overheating as they are cotton material.

Which one are your favourites? Are you a pj set or a nightie person?

Blogmas Day 5 | The Christmas Tag

What better way to spread some Christmas cheer, than doing the Christmas Tag? Thanks to Courtney for the list of questions.

1) What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
My two favourite Christmas films that really get me in spirit are Arthur Christmas & Love Actually. I love Arthur Christmas as it really makes you believe in Santa and is also hilarious, perfect for watching with little members of the family. Love Actually is classic for teens and older as it's all about love at Christmas!

2) Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Christmas morning, cause Santa only comes when you are asleep! We all wake up at around 9ish and open presents before breakfast.

3) Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Probably at my aunts one year where my uncle and I decided to have a roast potato eating contest! This resulted in my falling asleep on the sofa for sometime afterwards!

4) Favourite Festive Food?
Pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and parsnips! They get my heart all a flutter.

5) Favourite Christmas Gift?
Probably when I was younger a Mr Frosty; I think I must have begged every family member and Santa for this! Let's just say for Christmas dinner that year I had slushies!

6) Favourite Christmas Scent?
Anything gingerbread or Christmas trine/pine scented! I'm a sucked for Christmas candles and always have one burning during December. Currently I'm burning Cozy Cabin & Radiant Red Maple from Bath & Body Works.

7) Do you have any Christmas Eve Traditions?
Unfortunately a lot of the time I am at work during the day, however in the evening we used to have a little party at my house where all our neighbours come over for a few drinks and nibbles. Now however my sister & I will go out or we will spend the evening in our PJs watching Christmas films and baking mince pies, gingerbread men whilst drinking mulled wine.

8) What tops your Christmas Tree?
A gold star that I can't remember when or where we got it.

9) As a kid what was one crazy gift you always asked for but never received?
I can't remember to be honest, I would say as child I was quite lucky and got a lot of my main presents that I asked for. It was more when I became a teenager and started asking for Patrick Cox's Loafers or something else ridiculous that my mum was like no!

10) What's the best part about Christmas for you?
The build up to it! I love getting in the festive spirit throughout December, I'll watch rubbish films, bake lots of Christmas treats and enjoy days/evenings out with my family and close friends.

Let me know what your favourite thing about Christmas is in the comments below.

Blogmas Day 3 | My Christmas Wish List

A little peak into what's on my Christmas Wish List this year, I've found as I've got older there isn't anything that I really "must" have on my list. Of course I lust over high end make up products like other crazy beauty obsessed person; however this year I'm just not that fussed with what I get. I'm just happy to receive a little something from my near and dear.

These are just a few things that I've found myself going back to over the last month, thinking do I hit that purchase button? So I've put them on my Christmas list as I'm apparently hard to buy for when it comes to anything other than make up!

What's on your Christmas list this year?

Blogmas Day 1 | Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector

If you're looking for a perfect highlighter for over the Christmas period or as a present for the beauty addict in your life; than the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop is the one.

I purchased this in New York after hunting it down in around 5 Sephora's as I had heard such good things about the product. The pigmentation is just perfect, as you can see from the photos, as well as it being that right amount of shimmer to give you that "on point" highlight that Jaclyn Hill is famous for.

You can now pre-order the Becca x Jaclyn Hill highlight from Space NK, making it ten times easier for us here in the UK to pick this beauty up!

Have you tried this amazing highlight? Is it at the top of your wish list?

Beauty | November Beauty Favourites

There's not been many products that have been my favourite during November; as I've found myself reaching for the same things pretty much all the time.

The Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer has been my daily bronzer of choice, I love that it is matte meaning it's great for winter as I don't look like a shimmer brick. It's also great for contouring as you can really build up the colour to create a deeper contour across the cheekbones.

I have a new lipstick love in my life; Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare; it is a perfect nude/rose lip stain. What I love most about this product is that it is everlasting. I can go hours wearing this as well as eating and drinking and it will stay on. Perfect for when I'm at work and don't have time to be topping up my lippy every few hours.

I got my hair cut this month so have found using Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5 in 1 Styling Treatment a dream. It really adds volume to my hair as well a good amount of texture. It also helps my bob to stay looking slick instead of sticking out all directions after a nights sleep.

My skin has been feeling the brunt of the cold winds we've been having lately; making it dehydrated and dry. Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask has been helping hydrate my skin as well as making it look fresh every morning. I use this once or twice a week, applying before bed; letting the product sink into the skin over night. I love the mango scent that this mask has also.

I've been reaching for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Peach Nectar almost daily. I've actually been using this more as a blusher than a highlighter as I love the peach/coral tones in this. It's really buildable meaning when using as a highlighter you can really build up that shimmer on the top of your cheek bones.

What have you been loving in November? Have you tried any of the products I mentioned?

Lifestyle | November Love List ♥

Another month gone, so it's time to share what is on my Love List this month.

What I've Watched: Once Upon A Time - I started watching this a while ago however I got bored half way through season 2 and gave up. The other week after having nothing to binge watch on Netflix I decided to give it another try; I'm now half way through season 4 & have fallen head over heels in love with Captain Hook!

What I've Snapped: Whilst taking a lunch time stroll through Central London, I saw the Christmas windows at Liberty & couldn't resist taking a photo of this amazing bath tub filled with Champagne Truffles.

Who I've Loved: There's been a few special blogging girls that I've loved this month, who have picked me up when I was having a bad anxiety time as well as just general stupid chit chat! You know who you are, if you're reading this.

What I've Worn: My suede A-Line skirt by Rochelle Humes from Very.co.uk. It's the perfect autumn staple.

What I Did: I got my hair cut into a bob! I decided after lusting after Caroline Flack's hair that I wanted to take the plunge and I love it. If you've got any bob hairstyle tips, send them my way.

What I Ate: Greek yoghurt, raspberries & honey. I've tried to make my breakfast choices a bit more healthier, instead of reaching for sugary cereals or croissants. It is honestly now my favourite meal of the day and leaves me full until lunch time.

What I Drank: Pepsi max. I've been having a bit of a love affair with this drink in November & don't seem to go a day without a little Pepsi Max in my life.

Where I Went: I visited Brighton at the end of October for Halloween weekend to catch up with some of my Trek America friends. We drank Raspberitas that I had brought back from New York as well as going out for a boogie in fancy dress.

What I've Heard: Now if you don't see this coming from a mile off, you must be new round here! Of course it's One Direction's, Made In The AM. I've pretty much had it on repeat since it was released; favourite tracks are If I Could Fly, Wolves, Never Enough & History.
I've also been loving Ellie Goulding's Delirium & Little Mix's Get Weird albums.

What I've Used: Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This matte bronzer has been used almost daily since I purchased it, I love that it is matte meaning I'm not full of shimmer for the Autumn months. It also smells like actual chocolate making it even more amazing to use.

What have you loved in November? Let me know in the comments below.

#ThursdayTakeover | Carolanne From A Literary Cocktail

Each Thursday LLW will be bringing you a new guest post in the #ThursdayTakeover series! From bloggers of all ranges! Today is Carolanne from A Literary Cocktail.

Top 5 European Cities You Have to Visit

I love to travel, and I have a particular fondness for travelling within Europe.

There’s something about the eclectic mix of history, culture and city life found in Europe that leaves me dreaming of my next trip before I’ve even come home.

As it gets colder here in the UK, I get an even deeper desire to travel, and luckily I have some exciting trips lined up next year. If you’ve got a case of wanderlust and would like some inspiration, here’s a list of the top 5 European cities you have to visit.

Paris, France

Ahh, Paris! My favourite city to visit. I’ve been fascinated with Paris since I was a child, and my adoration for the city was firmly cemented upon watching Moulin Rouge! It’s the idea of Paris that I love the most, the freedom of expression; writers sat around coffee shops discussing literature and philosophy.

I finally visited Paris in 2013 with my fiancé and it was everything that I’d dreamt it would be. The actual Moulin Rouge was pretty disappointing though, so I wouldn’t waste your money once you’ve had your photo taken outside. Two tickets cost us around £200 so it’s certainly not cheap either!

Must do: The Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Catacombs of Paris

Bruges, Belgium

Bruges really is a magical city, the swans swimming on the lakes and the medieval architecture really give you the impression you have stumbled into a fairy-tale. I had my most relaxing trip here; though there are lots of things to do, I was also happy just to walk around and stop for numerous pints of beer. Bruges is known for its beer and I highly recommend trying a Bruge Zot or two.

Must do: The Historium, The Belfry, ALL of the pubs

London, England

I was lucky enough to live in London for four years while I worked and studied. London is full to the brim with things to do, whether you come for a weekend or for a lifetime. Walking down the River Thames is my favourite thing to do in London; it is always full of vibrant people and there’s always something going on. On the walk, I suggest popping into the Tate Modern for art like you’ve never seen before (and a surprising amount of male body parts).

Must do: Walk down the River Thames, Tate Modern, The National History Museum

Dublin, Ireland

If you’re into your drinking, then Dublin is the place for you. The Guinness Storehouse and the Old Jameson Distillery are great fun for an adult day-out. I felt like I was in a boozed-up version of Willy Wonka’s factory.

Dublin is a gorgeous metropolitan city full of things to do and I am keen to go back again soon. I recommend buying the City Pass as Dublin is a large city and sites like the Dublin Zoo are about a half hour drive away from the centre.

Must do: The Guinness Storehouse, Old Jameson Distillery, National Wax Museum

York, England

Being a Yorkshire girl myself I had to have a Northern city on the list! York is a peaceful city filled with cobbled streets and boutique shops. There’s also a lot of history in York, including being the birthplace of Guy Fawkes.

For a family day out, York is perfect. The Castle Museum is fun and includes a very life-like Victorian street, and York Dungeons is excellent.

Must do: The Castle Museum, York Dungeons, York Minster
