Lifestyle | A Big Dream Coming True

It's safe to say the last year and half for me has been a bit up and down! Bad break ups, learning to cope with my anxiety and having to move out of my childhood home. I decided that for once I was going to do something that I've been dreaming of doing from the moment I left university 5 years ago.

I've always dreamt of one day living in America, I've forever loved everything American! It's food, music, clothing, Disney World, way of life etc. However as I've got older I've come to realise the actual reality of me living out there is slim to none due to strict visa regulations etc. So the next best thing would be to travel around as much of The USA as possible. Every year I would order a brochure from Trek America and stare through the pages wishing that I was able to go on one of their organised treks.

After a stressful morning at work, I spent my lunch hour looking through the Trek America website and seeing what treks they had for 2015. I was instantly drawn to the Coast to Coast South Trek starting from New York and ending in Los Angeles. It looked like the ultimate dream 33 days on the open road in America seeing all the sights that the south cost offered. I emailed asking for a quote on flights for some dates I had in mind and put the idea back into the ultimate dream draw in my brain.

A week later I got an email back with some prices and the cogs in my brain started to work. I had just written my 30 Things To Do Before 30 post and was feeling determined to cross some of those things of the list. I sat down and worked out if I could actually afford to save and pay off for the trip of my dreams; I realised that if I got tough on myself with regards to my spending habits then this dream could actually be a reality.

So last pay day I took the plunge and booked it! Right now I'm at a good point in my life where a trip like this achievable and well and truly needed as I'm having a "What am I doing with my life?" blip! So June 2015 will see me heading off to New York City by my little old self to join people I've never met before to camp around the south coast of America. I am literally sooooo excited for this adventure and I'm determined to make the god damn most out of it!

So this is where I will be visiting during my 33 day trek. Unfortunately my trek won't be visiting San Diego, so no visit to the zoo for me, but I'm still extremely happy with all the stops. I'm particularly excited visit Key West, New Orleans, Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon. All due to the views and atmosphere that each of these places are meant to have! I'll be spending two days in New York before the trek actually begins so I will be able to do a tiny bit of sight seeing (I'm thinking a Gossip Girl tour, a trip up the Empire State Building and eating some of the best NYC Pizza) as well as having one night in LA after the tour finishes (hello quick shopping trip to The Grove).

The trek itself is primarily a camping trek, yes this means I will be sleeping under the stars in some of America's greatest National Parks. As pretty much a pampered princess I'm not sure how I'm going to take to camping for longer than a weekend but I'm sure as hell going to embrace it with two hands and hope that I love it!

I'm now officially on a tough spending ban for 8 months until I go! So this means no big beauty splurges for a while however I know it will be worth it when I'm sitting on that plane about to embark on my big adventure. I am hoping to keep you updated with how I'm getting on saving wise as well as blogging or vlogging my trip across America, when June finally rolls around. I haven't fully decided which one yet as I'm not sure how it's going to work being on the road for over a month.

This is something I never thought I would ever do and I'm so glad that I actually decided to bite the bullet and book this trip of my dreams. My mum is thrilled for me but is also distraught that she'll be without me for over a month! I can't wait to share this adventure with you all here on Lola's Little Wonders, this will definitely be a big wonder that I'll be showing you all!!

What is your dream trip? Have you ever been on the trip of a lifetime before?
Let me know in the comments.

Until Next Time...
