Lifestyle | A Look Back At 2014 & 2015 Resolutions

Hi Everyone,

I hope you've had a great Christmas? I've really been enjoying my time off work relaxing and spending time with the family.

2014 has seemed like a blur, it just seems like yesterday I was writing my 2013 lookback post. This year just felt bog standard, nothing drastic happened and nothing spectaculary amazing happened. It was just plain bobbing along throughout the year. One thing that did change my life was learning how to cope with my anxiety as well as seeking professional help, you can read more about this here.

Blogwise a lot of changes have happened. I got into a regular schedule, had a little makeover as well organsing the #LDNBloggerMeetUp. I also decided to set myself the task of posting everyday in October which I completed and also made me really enjoy blogging even more.

Here's a few of my favourite photos from 2014.

For 2015 I'm not planning on any big resolutions in particular. Last year saw me making resolutions that I hardly kept, perhaps I should make a resolution not to make resolutions.
Next year I take on a massive adventure in more ways then one. I will be travelling around the South Coast of America for 5 weeks with people I've not met before as well as leaving my job. So one thing I'm going to do is take each day as it comes and not to stress about the future.
I also want to get fit, note not loose weight, just get fitter. This means going to the gym more, cutting out all those crisps and chocolates that I love to eat. I just want to be a bit more healthier in general so when I'm in America hiking around the National Parks I'm not huffing and puffing cause I'm so unfit.

I also want to make this little corner I have on the internet even better! Better content, better photos, better engagement with you lovely lot that take 5 minutes out of your day to read LLW. I also want to put more time and effort into my YouTube Channel, I'm really inspired by Bethany Mota and Aspyn Ovard's videos and want to try and create content similar to theres as I enjoy watching it so much.

And that is pretty much it!
I want to say a big fat thank you to everyone that has supported me this last year on LLW in whatever way possible. Be just clicking on a post, watching a video, leaving a comment or having a good old chat with me on Twitter.

I wish you all a happy new year and may 2015 bring you all the hopes and dreams you ever wished for.

Until Next Time...

Lifestyle | Easy Christmas Baking

I love baking! I love Christmas!
So what makes that better...Christmas Baking!!! So the other weekend I decided I was going to make some super quick and easy mince pies.

I am going to be honest though and say I wasn't impressed with how my mince pies turned out as the pastry was a bit of a fail and they all got a tiny bit burnt. So I've learnt to stick to the cheat puff pastry from now on!

225g cold butter, diced
350g plain flour
100g caster sugar
280g mincemeat
1 small egg
Icing sugar, to dust

First up you're going to want to take the 225g of diced cold butter and rub this into the 350g of plain flour. You're going to use hands for this and want the butter and flour to become almost crumb like.

Next up mix in the 100g of caster sugar and a pinch of salt with a wooden spoon.

Once combined you will need to kneed the pastry mix together into a ball. Do not add any liquid to the mix, you will feel like you need to in order for it to stick together but the heat from your hands will do this for you. At this point it's time to get the oven preheated, 200c/gas 6/180c fan.

Now that the pastry is made you're going to want to take small walnut sized balls and press them straight into your cupcake tin to make the bottom of your pies.

Then take a teaspoon of your mincemeat and place this into each of your pies.

With the remaining pastry your going to want to do the same as before in order to make your lids to the pies. Just place them on top and give the edges a squeeze to close the pie up and seal the mincemeat in.

They are now all good to go in the oven! As you can see the pastry makes a little of a mess and I'm not the tidiest of cooks either. Pop them into the over for around 15 to 20 minutes until a light golden brown. As you can see I left mine in a little too long and they got a little bit burnt!

But they do still taste just as good! Dollop a little bit of brandy cream with them and mmmm they make a great Sunday night treat.

Let me know if you make the mince pies and how yours turn out. What's your favourite thing to bake at Christmas?

Lifestyle | How To Make Your Own Christmas Place Cards

Every year my friends and I always get together and host a Christmas meal at one of our houses. This year I decided to make some really easy place cards for everyone that they can keep afterwards. They are super easy to make and also look amazing, if I do say so myself.

What you need?
Just grab some baubles, I got mine from eBay, however they are originally from Ikea. I've gone for the red and gold theme, super Christmassy!
Also you will need a pen that works on plastic/glass. I used the Edding 780 Paint Marker Pen in gold and red.

What you need to do.
This couldn't be anymore simpler! All you need to do is shake the pen to get the paint flowing through to the nib. Once the pen is ready, write a persons name on one side of the bauble. You will need to free write as it's pretty hard to try and hold a ruler across the round bauble to get a straight line. On the other side of the bauble I just wrote "Xmas 2014" as I wanted my friends to be able to keep them and perhaps put them up on their trees for years to come.

And that is pretty much it! Told you it was simple and easy. I'll be placing these on the napkins for everyone on Sunday so they will know where they are sitting and also be able to take a little present home from me!

Will you be making the place cards? Are you making any simple and easy Christmas crafts this year?

Lifestyle | 5 Bloggers I've Loved In 2014

It's time to spread some Christmas love and share the 5 blogs I've loved the most during 2014. Blogging really took off this year and it was soooo hard to pick the 5 that I love the most; however I've managed to whittle it down to the ones I've read continuously through out the year as well as enjoying their photos, content and design.

Birds Words
Beth's blog is everything and more! Her photography is just amazing and just always looks like it is fresh out of a magazine. I also really enjoy how honest she is in her posts, her Expectations of a Twenty Something post really spoke to me as I have been feeling so lost with myself as other people around me are doing things that I felt like I should also be doing. I urge you to go read her blog if you haven't already!

Shivon Johnstone
Shivon is an amazingly talented make up artist, who deserves every piece of success that she gets. Everytime Shivon uploads a new look, I'm mesmerised by how flawless it looks as well as how easy she makes it look to apply the make up. If I could I would so have her come to my house and do my make up everytime I was going out. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Shivon a few times and she is one of the nicest girls I have ever met.

In The Frow
We all know how much I bloody love Victoria from In The Frow, so how could I not include her? This girl is like one of my serious girl crushes this year, I mean the hair, style and all round personality is just flawless! Victoria's blog has led me to making quite a few make up and clothing purchases throughout 2014 and also pushed me into finally booking my Trek America trip. Everything is just 100% honest with Victoria's blog and YouTube which is something I really value.

Thumbelina Lillie
Megan from Thumbelina Lille is just a little bundle of joy! I have loved seeing her blog grow from strength to strength over 2014, with the icing on the cake being her Cosmo Blog highly commended award. Megan's blog is just so beautiful and appears effortless, which I envy! I can't wait to see where things go for her in 2015.

Couture Girl
Kayleigh from Couture Girl was one of the first blogs I stumbled across when I decided to start a blog. Her photos always look perfect and I now love that she has started to share some fashion posts with her readers. I always enjoy a good home haul from Kayleigh and have loved seeing her picking up bits to decorate her new home.

So those are my 5 bloggers that I've been loving throughout 2014. There was soooo many to choose from and this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding my favourite bloggers. I'm always looking for new reads as I do spend a lot of my time trawling through and reading blogs in my downtime as well as commuting to and from work.

Who has been your favourite blogger this year?

Lifestyle | My Top Christmas Films

One of the main thing I love about Christmas time is all the Christmas films that you can watch. I love nothing more than on a Sunday afternoon, snuggling up with a blanket and a cup of tea whilst watching a feel good Christmassy film.

Today I'm giving you my top 5 Christmas films of all time!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas
This is one of the first Christmas films I remember watching with my sister, when we both still quite young. I just remember sitting there in awe of all the colours and songs as well as having a few giggles along the way. This film definitely makes your heart melt.

Love Actually
This is one more for the grown ups. I love sticking this on towards the end of November and getting totally in the Christmas spirit way before you should. I really enjoy how all the stories intertwine and it's not a typical Santa Christmas film that all the others tend to be.

The Santa Clause
I think I may have been taken to the cinemas to see this when it first came out and I love it just as much now as I did back then. I always used to wish that what happens in this films would happen to me...still waiting for Santa to fall off my roof. Tim Allen is just great in this film as well.

This is probably my all time favourite Christmas film EVER!!! Yes I said ever! It's pure LOLs from the get go and can always put a smile on my face when I'm having a bad day. Will Ferrell is pure comedy genius in this also.

Miracle on 34th Street
This film is just the most magical Christmas film ever. It always leaves me sobbing into my blanket though when Kris Kringle gets arrested. However I love how amazing this film is as it's set across New York, which is just the ultimate place to me to be at Christmas time.

So those are my top 5 Christmas films, that I am currently watching on an endless loop!

What is your favourite Christmas film?

Fashion | Work Christmas Party Ideas

It's the Christmas party season!! Yay! However my work party was last week and I unfortunately didn't make an appearance to other commitments. But has this stopped be scouring the shops for my top work Christmas Party outfits, of course not! Today I'm showing my favourite four that I would definitely be debating buying if I had a big fancy party to go to.

Jumpsuit - MissGuided - £24.99
Monochrome is always a safe bet and this jumpsuit from MissGuided gives that optical illusion with the white panels down the sides. I would also pair this with a pair of either black stiletto heels or perhaps gold? Also adding tumbling waves to my hair and a nice deep red lip, this look would be sure to turn heads at your Christmas party.

Feather Hem Bodycon Dress - Topshop - £40
Nothing like staying safe with a LBD, however this one has something a little extra with the feathered hem around the bottom of the dress. With slicked back hair and a smokey eye, paired with some metallic shoes and bag, this will definitely get the party started.

Red Sequin Bodycon Dress - Miss Selfridge - £89.10
Nothing screams Christmas more than a red dress and sequins! I love this dress as it has so much detail and looks a lot more expensive than it's actual price tag. Keeping the make up simple and the hair perhaps in a low tumbling bun, this will most certainly make you centre of attention at the party.

Sequin Dress - Florence & Fred at Tesco - £40
Playing it safe but adding a little bit of Christmas spirit steps in the standard black sequin bodycon dress. I would definitely go all out with the accessories on this one, I'm talking gold shoes and gold handbag as well as big Hollywood style curls and a deep burgundy lip. This is one that you could even recycle for New Years Eve.

So those are my top four work Christmas party looks out there at the moment. Now just to find somewhere to wear at least one of them too.

Which outfit is your favourite? Have you got any top tips when finding something to wear to the office Christmas party?

Travel | Trek America Countdown #3

So today marks 6 months until the big trip with Trek America! This last month has been a good'un with regards to prep before heading off.

The main big thing that happened is that I now have a travelling buddy in the form of one of my besties Emma. After a lot of chat about if she should take the plunge and book it, she decided why the hell not? This has led to the excitement of booking the trip initially to sink in all over again, as we spent one evening watching all of Victoria from In The Frow YouTube vlogs of her trip and getting so excited about the 5 weeks we will be spending Stateside.

Trek America also were kind enough to send me a map of The USA, which is massive, for Thanksgiving. You can scratch off all the states that you have visited on the map, which make it even more fun. I'm leaving the map as it is at the moment and I'm intending to scratch the whole of the South Coast off once I've been. I am going to put this up on my wall though and create some kind of countdown/collage after Christmas to get me even more excited.

I also managed to bag a bargain in Black Friday regarding my suitcase. It was the suitcase of my dreams that I wanted, which you may remember from last month's countdown post. Yes I finally managed to get my hand on the Roxy Long Haul Case in Tropical Pink. It was a bargain, with it already in the sale at £80 then an extra 40% off on Black Friday, making it come in at under £50!! I can't wait for it to arrive as the trip will start to feel more real and I can slowly start to put items in it that are specifically for America. However I have to wait until Christmas for it, as my mum has decided to refund me the money for the case and give it to me as a Christmas present. Extra bonus for me.

The final thing that has happened this month in preparation for the big trip is that I got my hair cut! Yes this may not seem that big of a deal, but my hair had got so long and was in such bad condition that it need a big cut so it would grow nice and healthy for when I head off. I had over 6 inches chopped off which is a massive amount but it I've already had people saying how healthy it looks already. Now the process of keeping it healthy and growing my locks starts again.

And that's it for this month's countdown! I can't believe there's only 6 months now to go! I know the next few months will go really quickly as I have a few things to look forward to each month, like going to Spain for a long weekend, seeing McBusted and many more!

So just 181 days left to go!!!

Have you got any top travel tips for me?
