Make Your Own Gingerbread House

Hello Little Ones,

I love baking, especially over the Christmas period.
However with all the festive goings on I sometimes find it hard to find a day where I can actually make something from scratch.
So when my mum found this gem from Morrisons I was happily impressed!

Yes a make your own gingerbread house, already for you just to put together and decorate!
And at £4.99 this is quite a bargain I would say.

So this morning I sat myself down, turned on the Christmas music and started to get creative!

On the back of the packaging comes the instructions to put your gingerbread house together, something I thought would be really difficult. However after a few moments piping the icing on the required edges and sticking the walls and roof together, I give you my gingerbread house!

After gluing the house together you need to leave it for 30 minutes for the icing to set. This ensures that your house is going to be stable for the decorating process.

During the 30 minutes feel free to watch an episode of gossip girl, wrap a few presents or catch up with your favourite blogs.

Now came the difficult part!
I'm not the most artistic person when it comes to drawing or decorating, so I thought I'll just try and copy the picture on the front of the box. This turned out horrific!
Thank god I had another chance at redemption by using the other side.
The only thing that makes the decorating so hard is the fact the icing bag supplied doesn't allow you to create really thin lines so you can draw round the windows and doors.
I decided after my failed first attempt to keep it simple.

All the sweets come with it as well, meaning you have everything you need to decorate the house!

This is a really good activity if you love baking but are too busy or if you have younger children and want something fun to do with them over the festive break.

Mine is currently now on display in the living room and I've told everyone that they are not allowed to eat it until Boxing Day!

Until next time...
