2013 In Review

Hey Little Ones,
With 2014 fast approaching its made me think back on
all the things that have happened in 2013.
I've had a lot of ups and downs, that is safe to say.
2013 started off amazingly, I had a lot of hopes and dreams ready for the year ahead.
However they soon took a sharp turn when I was told I would be needing an operation on my elbow.
This led to a spiral of a tiny bit depression and causing my then relationship to break up.
The break up did cause me to think about what I actually wanted to do with my life.
It was almost like a second chance really, after being with someone for over two years of your life and thinking that your future was with them it was time to get back out there and see the world!
And what better way then heading off to Thailand for 2 weeks
with two of your bestest friends!
This was exactly what I needed after a turbulent first 5 months to start 2013.
Thailand was one of the most amazing places I've ever been to in all my life.
It's on my list to go back to as I'd love to explore more of northern Thailand and Bangkok.
There is two whole blog posts about my time in Thailand
Here and here.
This marked the start of Lola's Little Wonders!
Thailand marked the start of the summer for me.
As in June I went off to Malia with another 2 of my closest chums,
Nicola & Stacey.
Yes this was your typical girls holidays, but I think from the moment we left for the airport
to the moment I got back home we were laughing so much.

After abusing my liver so much with the girlies, I come home and it was my birthday!
I got to spend the day with my little sister at The Harry Potter Studio Tour.
There is a whole blog post up about the day just click here.

It was around this time that I realised how lucky I am to have my best chums in my life,
they made my entire birthday night out which I hardly remember.
I knew then that I was finally back to being the Lola I was over a year ago who felt a little lost!

In August it was time for V Festival.
There was 10 of us that went all together and it was one of the best weekends of 2013.
A weekend camping with your best chums and seeing Beyonce, that is up there in the top 10 of all time.
There's more about V Festival and all the outfits I wore that weekend over here.

With August fading away into the background I realised that I needed one last holiday!
So I called up my chum Emma.M and suggested we head to Ibiza for some of the closing parties.
This was non stop party central, I came back less rested than when I went.
There's more about my time in Ibiza here.

This brought us to the Winter months.
Meaning no more summer holidays or festivals, instead it was a lot of time spent with my best chums at
each other's houses, be it making homemade pizzas, getting a takeaway and watching a film or having a sleepover. It's little nights like those that make you appreciate each other and also saves you some pennies!
To see some of my highlights of 2013 in a quick little video to my song of the year just click

I honestly feel like despite the rocky start of 2013 this has been one of the best years of my life!
From May onwards I have been lucky enough to have two promotions at work as well as going on holiday to some amazing places.
2013 is going to be a tough one to beat but I'm looking forward to what 2014 brings, especially here on Lola's Little Wonders.

So a big thank you to all of you little ones that have followed me on GFC, Bloglovin', Twitter and Instagram!
Without you I wouldn't be climbing the blogging ladder like I am!
Here's to 2014, let's make it better than the last!

Until next time...

What I Got For Christmas 2013

Hello Little Ones,

I hope you all had a really good Christmas and are looking forward to ringing in 2014.

Today I thought I would share with you what I got for Christmas this year,
as I've seen on twitter there is quite a demand for this post.
I'm not here to brag about what Santa brought me, just merely show you all the fab gifts that I received.

This is going to be a photo heavy post, also I've already opened and tried some of the gifts
as I'm way to impatient and today was the first chance I've had to photograph everything.

First up I'll start with my "Secret Santa" from my best chums.

My friend Nicola had me and it's safe to say after opening these gifts she knows me rather well.
A few mini Soap & Glory goodies, perfect as I'm quite often on the go; as well as gift set from Lush Ltd containing Candy Mountain Bubble Bar and Rock Star Soap.

Nicola also got me a few Barry M nail varnishes as I'm constantly changing up my nails especially when I can't afford to get gel done.
She also included a few One Direction goodies! The pencils are coming to work with me and the lollipop will never be eaten! Nicola also got me a One Direction calendar which is now hanging up in my room for the next year!
Whoever gets me every year in our "Secret Santa" always gets me a Disney DVD, and this years choice was The Little Mermaid. I'm intending to watch this tonight after a bath as I'm currently nursing the flu.

My best friend at work, Danielle, who is also my team leader; bought me this lovely Ted Baker gift set from Boots.
I actually own the other wash bags in this collection so was thrilled when I opened this.
As well as it containing a few beauty essentials it also had a candle, which at the moment I'm obsessed with!

My nan bought me Soap & Glory's Yule Monty set.
I haven't photographed this as I know a lot of people received them for Christmas as
well as buying them for themselves.
It's all been unpacked and every product in there has already been tried out now!

From my sister I was lucky to receive Lauren Conrad's Beauty Book
and The Eye Core Collection from Real Techniques.

Both of these are definite essentials for any keen beauty enthusiast!
I've nearly completed my Real Techniques collection now and will be sure to pick up a few tips from my
role model LC about all things beauty related!
(If I learn anything amazing I'll be sure to let you know on here)

Now come all the little bits from my Mum.

MAC's Midnight Eye Collection
Make Up Brush Cleaner
Vanilla Scented Candle from Bella Sorella
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas for me without something from MAC's Christmas Collection.
This year I received their Midnight Eye collection which included a paint pot, gel eyeliner, extreme mascara and eye brush, all bundled up in a really nice make up bag.
I will definitely be using that make up bag in my hand bag.
My other Bella Sorella candle had just run out before Christmas, so I was quite happy to see that my Mum
had purchased me another.
The scent on this candle is amazing, and I can't wait to burn this throughout January.

I got two main presents from my Mum this year!

Yes! I finally got the Jo Malone Perfume I had been begging for since I can remember!
It's the Blackberry and Bay scent and it's love at first spritz.
I was so overwhelmed when I saw that my mum had got me this as for ages she had been saying that I could "dream on" about receiving it for Christmas.

Mum also got me this beautiful tan DKNY purse.
I had asked for a new purse but wasn't expecting to receive a designer one so was thrilled when I saw this.
It's got lots of card slots to hold all my cards, as well as nice big change zip pocket.
I truly love it and know it will last me for a good few years.

Last but not least was my present from my Dad.

After dropping hints about my old laptop running out of memory and being really old.
(It was with me from my last year of uni)
my Dad said he'd go halves with me on a new laptop. Now I did toy with the idea about getting a MacBook
but I had also heard really good things about the new Google Chromebooks.
After a little research I decided to get the Samsung Chromebook, and I am loving it!
It's super speedy and already had blogger installed!
This now means I'll be able to blog at home instead of during my lunch at work, so hopefully I should be able to make post more frequent in 2014.

What did you all get for Christmas?
Let me know in the comments.

Until next time...

The 12 Days of Christmas - Day Two & Three

Hello Little Ones,

I'm so sorry that I'm two days behind on this feature,
but I'm currently ill with a cold and haven't felt like typing up a post until this morning.

Instead of missing out a day or two, I just thought I would combine them for you all.
So lets get started!

Day Two - Boxing Day

Boxing Day was a busy one for me, as we had 11 people over for lunch with us.

Tartan Dress - Primark - £15
Now I didn't get a chance to take a proper full length photo of myself as I was so busy being barmaid.
Christmas is the perfect time to get the tartan out, especially with it being on trend this autumn/winter.

Eyeshadow - mix of Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and MAC
Lipstick - MAC Rebel
I bought myself the Naked 3 last week as a little present to myself and over Christmas I have loved
experimenting with all the colours.
I am planning on doing a post featuring a Face of the Day look within The 12 Days of Christmas, so stay tuned!

Day Three - 27th December

Yesterday I spent the morning at the sales at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
A post will be going up tomorrow showing all the goodies I managed to snag!
However I was so busy and started to feel so rough that I didn't take a photo of what I wore shopping.

In the afternoon my mum, nan, my and a few of our close family friends headed off to
Afternoon Tea at Orsett Hall, as a little treat for my nan's birthday; which is Christmas Day.
This was a perfect excuse to get dressed up a little bit!
Even if I felt ill nothing stops me from getting glammed up!

Necklace - Accessorize - £22
Playsuit - Topshop - really old
Tights - Primark - £3
Boots - New Look - £25
I love the colour of this playsuit so much.
It's been a staple in my wardrobe for years now and is always something I use for emergency nights out.
With it's Peter Pan collar and cute bow belt, it says me all over!

Hat - Primark - £10
Coat - Matalan - £40
Bag - Mulberry - £895
Due to the stormy weather we've been having I needed to wrap up.
My trusty oversized boyfriend coat is perfect at the moment and is getting a good wear!
To complete the look I added my floppy fedora hat, I'd been looking for an excuse to wear this hat since I bought it and afternoon tea seemed like a really good one!

Remember I'm currently running a competition alongside this feature.
Send me a picture of your outfit of the day until 5th January, just tweet me at
and make sure you use the hashtag
and you will be entered to win!
Just make sure you are following me on twitter and bloglovin'

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Hello Little Ones,
A little while ago I wrote this guest post for Beth over on Beauty in Beta.
And I'm so proud of it that I couldn't keep it hidden from you all!
So here is my Christmas Day Lookbook
This will include PJs, dresses and casual looks;
basically everything you could need to look so good for Santa on Christmas day.

Now whilst you are all reading this I would suggest putting on some Christmas tunes,
my personal favourite is "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Michael Buble,
as well as tucking into a mince pie and a hot chocolate.
Now are we all sitting comfortably...
well lets begin.
It was the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, just the sound of a Lush bath.

Father Christmas Bath Bomb - Lush - £3.25
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St Nicolas would soon be there.

The children were nestled all snug in there beds,
whilst wearing their favourite pjs covered in Santa heads.

Santa Leggings - Primark - £10
Slipper Socks - Primark - £3
And mamma in her kerchief, and I in my onesie,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

Onesie - Primark - £10

When out on the lawn there a rose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and put on my coat and hat.

Shirt - Primark - £12
Jumper - Primark - £8
Coat - Matalan - £40
Jeans - Topshop - £25
Boots - New Look - £15
Hat - Primark - £10

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the lustre of mid-day objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick.
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
I pulled on my jumper as his coursers came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name.

Jumper - Primark - £12
Dress - Primark - £10
"Now Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the Wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

Reindeer Socks - Topshop - £3
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With a sleigh full of beauty products, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around (in my little black dress)
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

Sequin Dress - Love at Topshop - £25
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of beauty goodies he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was white as snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowful of jelly.

He was chubby and plum, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, dressed in tartan myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

Coat - Matalan - £40
Dress - Primark - £15
Tights - Primark - £3.50
Shoes - Primark - £6
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

Wrapping Paper - Paperchase -£3.50 - £4
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night"

Until next time...

Festive Room Tour

Hello Little Ones,
With Christmas creeping up on us,
I thought I would give you a little room tour of how I make my room look
all Festive and Christmassy!
Dressing Table
Lights - Paperchase - £7

Candle (Pack of 3) - Primark - £4
Elf - Amazon - £10

Tree - Tesco - £4
I love covering my dressing table with fairy lights,
its perfect for when you want to snuggle up an watch a Christmas film.
My choice as you can see is Elf.
With a little tinsel christmas tree perched on the side completes the Christmas feel.

Ho Sign (Comes in pack of 3) - Tesco - £5
Yankee Candle - Apple & Pine Needle Scent - Secret Santa Present
Nothing makes it seem more Christmassy than a sign saying
and an apple and pine needle scented candle!
This Yankee Candle was actually given to me in my work secret santa
and the scent is beautiful.
It is quite strong so if you like a more sweeter scent I wouldn't reccomend this one.

Bedding - Ebay - £30
There is nothing better then snuggling down in some Christmas bedding
with the candles and fairy lights lit whilst watching one of the many films
that are on tv over Christmas.
I love this bedding as it's not too over the top Christmas themed but its
still perfect for this time of year!

Percy Pig Advent Calender - Marks and Spencers - £3
Candles - Primark - £3.50
Gingerbread Candle - Tesco - £3.50
Christmas Tree - Tesco - £4

Big Candle - Asda - £2.50
Yankee Candle (Christmas Treats Scent) - Asda - £7.50

Tis the Season to be Jolly sign - Paperchase - £5

My window ledge is the most festive area in my room!
I love the little sign from Paperchase that I've hung on the end of my curtain pole,
and once all the fairy lights and Christmas scented candles are lit
its the perfect little Christmas getaway!
I spend quite a lot of time in my room as I'm often writing a blog post
or watching YouTube videos; and by having the room made a bit more festive makes
it perfect!
Have you added any little festive touches to your room?
Let me know in the comments!
Until next time...
